Pepe Salas was honored at the 2018 ASCE Convention in Denver, Colorado from October 12-15 as a new Distinguished Member of ASCE. “The Distinguished Membership is the highest honor ASCE can bestow. It is reserved for civil engineers who are either ASCE Members of Fellows.
Dr. Salas and Dr. J. Obeysekara receive the 2016 STAHY Award
The International Association of Hydrological Sciences has awarded Dr. Jose D. Salas, Professor Emeritus, and former CSU graduate student Dr. Jayantha Obeysekera with the 2016 STAHY Award.
The STAHY-IAHS award selection is based on the evaluation of the 20 papers having the highest number of citations (excluding self-citations) during a period of 3 years. For the Salas-Obeysekera award the evaluation period was the years 2012, 2013, and 2014.
Over almost four decades, Professor Salas and his graduate students and collaborators have made significant contributions in diverse areas of Hydrology and Water Resources.
Congratulations Pepe and Jayantha!
Dr. Salas receives 2015 Norman Medal
Dr. Jose Salas has been selected by the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Awards Committee to receive the 2015 Norman Medal for the paper, “Revisiting the Concepts of Return Period and Risk for Nonstationary Hydrologic Extreme Events” published in the March 2014 issue of the ASCE Journal of Hydrologic Engineering.
Dr. Salas’ paper has been published in the ASCE Journal of Hydrologic Engineering
The editor of ASCE-EWRI’s Journal of Hydrologic Engineering has selected Dr. Jose Salas’ paper “Revisiting the Concepts of Return Period and Risk for Nonstationary Hydrologic Extreme Events” for the 2015 Best Paper.
He will be presented with this award during the World Environmental & Water Resources Congress 2015 in Austin, Texas, during the Watershed Council Luncheon and Awards.
