Dr. Pierre Y. Julien

Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering

Pierre Y JulienDr. Julien has more than 40 years of experience in the field of sediment transport and river engineering. He started teaching at Laval University in Canada in 1979. He completed his Ph.D. at Laval University in the field of hydraulics and sediment transport. A NATO postdoctoral scholarship brought him to Colorado State University in 1983, where he joined the faculty in 1985 and became a full professor in 1995. Dr. Julien has authored two textbooks, 35 book chapters and manuals, 200 refereed journal publications, and 250 conference papers and presentations. He has delivered 25 keynote addresses in 11 different countries, taught 20 short courses, and guided 44 Ph.D. (from 16 different countries) and 120 master’s students to graduation.
