Undergraduate Commencement Fall 2011

Check-in: For all graduates is in the North Ballroom, Lory Student Center
Place: Main Ballroom, Lory Student Center
Line-up: You must be checked in and lined up under the department sign for your major no later than 3:30 p.m.
Notice of Participation
Graduating Seniors, please be sure to meet with your advisor early in the semester to finalize your degree program requirements. Please RSVP for the Fall 2011 Commencement Ceremony no later than Friday, October 14, 2011. The RSVP form is now online.
You will be required to confirm your name card prior to commencement. Please stop by the Academic and Student Affairs Office in Engineering Room 102 during the week of December 5-9, 2011 to complete this requirement.
Student Check in and Lineup 
Please report to the North Ballroom, Lory Student Center no later than 3:20 p.m. for the pre-ceremony lineup and instructions. You will pick up your name card at a check-in table, and staff members and marshals will line up faculty and students for the processional march to the Main Ballroom, Lory Student Center.
Regalia
STUDENTS
No advance reservations need to be made. Students, except for doctoral candidates, keep their caps and tassels. Rental costs* are as follows:

Additionally, undergraduate regalia may be picked up one hour prior to the ceremony at the Lory Student Center, Room 228. (Faculty regalia is available at Lory Student Center on Wednesday, December 14, and before 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15. After Thursday at 5:00 p.m., Faculty may ONLY pick up their regalia 1 hour prior to their convocation at the auxiliary gymnasium at Moby).
REGALIA RETURN
Return of regalia will be immediately after the ceremony to the Lory Student Center, Room 228. Please note that there may be a charge for late returns. Any late returns should be sent directly to:

Printed Announcements
Representatives from CB Grad Announcements (announcements personalized with the student's name) and Josten’s (class rings) will be present on October 18, 19, and 20 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Flea Market area (outside the University Bookstore) to take advanced, customized orders. After October 20, announcement orders may be placed at www.cbgrad.com or by calling 800-433-0296. Customized orders are returned within seven days of being ordered. The Grad Fair itself, sponsored by the Bookstore, will be one day only – Wednesday, October 19.
Generic announcements (non-personalized announcements) may be purchased at the University Bookstore any time.
Diploma Covers
Graduates receive a diploma cover at commencement. The actual diploma will be mailed to you six to eight weeks after Commencement. For those unable to attend the ceremonies, diploma covers are available in the Provost’s Office or the Graduate School (at no charge). Mailing requests can be made by calling 491-6614 for undergraduate students or 491-6817 for graduate students; the shipping/ handling cost to mail diploma covers is $4.95 for U.S. mailings.
Guests
The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m. and will last approximately one hour and 15 minutes. Persons in wheelchairs may be assisted by ushers at the Main Ballroom entrance. (The best area to drop off persons in wheelchairs is at the north end of the Lory Student Center, which will take them to an elevator and up to the second floor where the Main Ballroom is located.) Seats will be reserved for persons who need special assistance. Sign language interpreters will be available during the ceremony. There will be reserved seating for hearing-impaired guests.
Photography
Photography will be provided by Colorado Candids. Graduates and their families can purchase photos directly from the photographer at their website www.coloradocandids.com. Your home department will also mail you one complimentary photo a few weeks after the ceremony.
Parking
Parking at the Lory Student Center – The Lory Student Center is located centrally on the main campus, and there will be free public parking in the pay-by-space numbered stalls in the parking lot north of the Lory Student Center on Friday and Saturday. There should be sufficient time between ceremonies to minimize parking congestion.

Student Conduct
Please remember that this ceremony is a public event. For this reason we request that you honor the occasion by not adorning your regalia with additional decoration. Your conduct and behavior during the ceremony reflect the dignity and importance of this event for all of us—you as an individual and the University as a whole. You are reminded that it is illegal to bring alcoholic beverages onto campus. Other inappropriate substances or objects will not be allowed anywhere in the facility and such items will be confiscated. Uniformed police officers and faculty marshals will be in attendance as you enter the assembly area and throughout the ceremony. In accordance with commencement policies, you may be requested to open robes, purses, etc. for inspection as you enter.
