The WAID program is highly interdisciplinary, and the faculty members who participate in the WAID program also participate in the other graduate programs in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Thus, the full range of facilities within the Department is available to students in the WAID program. Cutting-edge hydraulic, groundwater, and environmental laboratories are available as needed. In addition, students have access to a variety of partner institutions, field sites, and equipment including survey-grade GPS systems, various equipment for field testing of water quality, equipment for field analysis of soils, acoustic doppler velocimeters for measuring flow rates in streams, meteorological sensors, infra-red thermometry, drones, remote sensing technologies, scintillometry, and multispectral radiometry.
