“Dahl Winters recently became one of my graduate students, and when I found out what she was doing for carbon remediation, asked if she would help form a super-project with Kwaku Boakye, who is an expert on cement manufacture. The two of them, led by Dahl’s incorporation of biochar into cement for testing and by Kwaku’s expertise on cement test and measurement, are now working on a “dream” project simultaneously addressing beach protection from tidal swells, carbon sequestering for atmospheric carbon remediation, and the formation of new cement architectures with customizable mechanical properties. Amazing “can do” attitudes and technical prowess!”
