Associate Professor Tiezheng Tong will receive the James J. Morgan Early Career Award honorable mention from the American Chemical Society next month at the Spring National Meeting in New Orleans. The award recognizes “imaginative early career colleagues who are making waves in environmental science and technology.”

Tong is involved in ground-breaking research on achieving zero-liquid discharge in desalination, including electrodialytic crystallization, as well as efforts to reduce the cost and energy required.

“I am honored to be recognized by ACS and will keep contributing to pushing the boundary of science, especially in the area of desalination and water purification,” said Tong.

Tong was invited to present at the award session on March 18, a talk entitled “Tale of two scales: Elucidating the contrast behaviors and mitigation strategies of gypsum and silica scaling in membrane desalination.
