Develop climate change adaptation strategies for critical

CIVE

CIVE professors Ken Carlson and Chris Thornton are part of a trans-disciplinary team that is evaluating the impacts of climate change on US Air Force installations around the globe and developing engineered adaptation strategies. The team, which includes personnel from the College of Natural Resources, North Central Climate Science Center and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, is utilizing state of the art climate prediction models to understand impacts to 68 Air Force installations from Japan to Florida to Germany. Based on these projections, the engineering team is establishing strategies for providing infrastructure to help the installations adapt to climate change while preserving mission, ecology and environmental goals.
