CEE Graduate Education Preview Day 2022 FAQs

Question. What is the schedule of events?

Answer: CEE Gradate Education Preview Day is an immersive experience starting the evening of Thursday, November 3, and lasting through the morning of Saturday, November 5. Students should be able to depart Fort Collins by mid-day on Saturday. Accepted participants should plan to dedicate the time to take advantage of the many elements provided, including Department and laboratory tours, admissions information sessions, networking opportunities, faculty meetings, engaging dinners and chats with graduate faculty, students, and staff, and much more. A more detailed schedule will be provided to accepted participants closer to the program date, but in sufficient time to allow for travel arrangements.

 

Question. When will I be notified of my application status?

Answer: The deadline for applications is October 1, 2022. Applicants will receive application status notifications by COB on Friday, October 7, 2022. After careful review of your application by the Department, you will receive a notification of accepted, denied, or waitlisted.

High demand in anticipated for this program, such that the availability likely will be limited. However, participation in the CEE Gradate Education Preview Day does not determine admission to any CSU graduate degree program, and lack of participation does not exclude admission to any CSU graduate degree program.

 

Question. What cost are covered by the program?

Answer: The CEE Department covers two nights of shared hotel accommodations and provides reasonable reimbursement for travel related cost (based on the travel guidelines provided below). Meals will be provided Thursday evening, all day Friday, and Saturday morning. Reimbursements for expenses incurred by this travel will be provided based on the subsequent guidelines.

 

Question. Who is responsible for making the travel arrangements?

Answer: Each visitor is responsible for making their own travel arrangements. The Department does not make travel arrangements.

 

Question. How much will I be reimbursed for my travel expenses?

Answer: If you are currently located in Fort Collins, you will not be reimbursed for travel related cost and you will not receive hotel accommodations.

If you are a participant living outside of Fort Collins but within Colorado or Wyoming, you will be reimbursed up to $200 and will receive two nights shared hotel accommodations.

If you are a participant living outside of Colorado or Wyoming, you will be reimbursed up to $400 and will receive two nights shared hotel accommodations.

To be reimbursed, you must provide receipts that show “paid” or completed credit card transaction when a credit card is used.

Question. When do I complete the forms needed for my travel reimbursement?

Answer: You will be provided an opportunity to submit travel reimbursement information when you come to CSU. Reimbursement checks are expected to be mailed to students approximately 4-5 weeks after the end of the event.

 

Question. How do I get from the Denver airport to campus?

Answer:  Groome Shuttle provides transportation between Denver Airport and Fort Collins (https://groometransportation.com/fort-collins-loveland/). You can arrange to have the shuttle drop you off directly at the hotel.

 

Question. When should I plan to be in Fort Collins?

Answer: Plan to arrive to Fort Collins by Thursday, November 3 in sufficient time for dinner at 6 pm. There will be a dinner and a panel of a current graduate students planned for 6 pm in downtown Fort Collins.

 

Question. When should I plan to leave?

Answer: Plan to depart Fort Collins around noon on Saturday, November 5.

 

Question. If I want to come earlier and/or stay later. Is that allowed?

Answer: Your lodging is paid for two nights of shared accommodations. Check-in Thursday, November 3 and check-out Saturday, November 5, by the applicable hotel check-in and check-out times. You otherwise will be responsible for any lodging costs incurred before or after this period. You are also responsible for any incidentals charged to your room upon checkout.
