Dr. Antônio Alves Meira Neto

Assistant Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering

Headshot of Antonio Alves Meira Neto

Antônio Meira is mainly interested in understanding hydrologic processes controls at various spatial and temporal timescales, along with its interconnections to relevant biogeochemical processes along with human activities. His research spans different methods, from field-scale observations of flow and transport using hydrogeophysics, tracer experiments, and traditional field-hydrology techniques, through catchment-to-continental scale empirical analysis and modeling. Antônio received his Ph.D. in Hydrology from the University of Arizona, a M.Sc. Hydraulics from the University of São Paulo, and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Bahia.

Antônio is highly engaged in the Scientific Community and has actively participated in the American Geophysical Union’s Hydrology Section since his years as a Ph.D. student. Most importantly, Antônio firmly believes in raising the voices of students and professionals from diverse backgrounds to make the scientific community a richer, more welcoming, and more creative space.
