Alumnus Vijay Singh elected member of NAE

Vijay P. Singh

Alumnus Vijay P. Singh, now a distinguished professor and the Caroline & William N. Lehrer Distinguished Chair in Water Engineering at Texas A&M University, has been elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). He was recognized for his “distinguished contributions to engineering, for contributions to wave modeling and development of entropy-based theories of hydrologic processes and hydroclimatic extremes.”

Singh was advised by Professor David Woolhiser. He earned a Ph.D. in hydrology and water resources in 1974.

Singh will be inducted into the academy during the NAE Annual Meeting Oct. 2-3.

Election to National Academy of Engineering membership is one of the highest professional honors accorded an engineer. Members have distinguished themselves in business and academic management, in technical positions, as university faculty, and as leaders in government and private engineering organizations. Members are elected to NAE membership by their peers (current NAE members).
