Optoelectronics Program Expands

$1.5 Million Equipment Gift to be used for Extreme Ultraviolet Optics

A gift of equipment valued at $1.5 million from Veeco IonTech was presented in the Spring to the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. The SPECTOR ion beam deposition system supports continuing research in the area of thin film optical devices, giving researchers the opportunity to explore new ideas in the implementation of novel multilayer structures for applications such as extreme ultraviolet optics and biosensors based on photonic structures. This equipment will also provide learning opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students in the program.
