Kreidenweis Elected Vice-President Elect of AAAR
Sonia Kreidenweis, professor of atmospheric science, has
been elected to serve as 2002-2003 vice president-elect of the American
Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR). Over the next four years, Kreidenweis
will serve sequential one-year terms as AAAR vice president-elect, vice
president, president, and immediate past president.
Kreidenweis initiated and is co-leader of Colorado State's atmospheric chemistry program. Her research interests focus on the nature and behavior of particulate matter in the atmosphere, particularly the influence of aerosols on the Earth's radiation budget and climate, and the relationship between aerosols and cloud microphysical and optical properties.
Prior to being elected to serve as AAAR vice president, Kriedenweis served as an AAAR board member and was the AAAR 2000 annual meeting program chair.
The AAAR is a nonprofit professional organization for scientists and engineers who wish to promote and communicate technical advances in the field of aerosol research. Founded in 1982, the organization has grown to a present-day membership of over 800. Association members' research includes basic research and applications of aerosol science to a broad range of fields, including the atmosphere and environment, pharmaceuticals, materials processing and production, microcontamination, occupational and public health and nuclear safety.
