College Announces Student Giving Program

The College of Engineering is pleased to announce the creation of a Student Giving program, which is jointly coordinated by the Development Office and the Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

The Student Giving program is designed to encourage a sense of ongoing commitment to the college and its department. "Our efforts will focus on developing a philanthropic culture among our student body," states Roxanne Fry, Assistant Director of Development for the College of Engineering.

Each academic department has selected a student giving liaison who will work hand-in-hand with the Development Office as the new program is implemented. Student Giving liaisons have met with their respective Department Head to determine the focus of their fundraising efforts and to devise a marketing strategy for reaching out to their fellow students. For example, mechanical engineering students will be raising funds for the department's Senior Design Practicum Endowment.

"By contributing to the Senior Design Practicum Endowment, mechanical engineering students are ensuring that future generations of CSU students receive the same excellent experience and education that we are receiving now," states Carl Kaiser, the Student Giving liaison for the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Engineering students will receive monthly e-newsletters throughout the academic year, with a focused fund drive slated for early 2005. Competitions between departments and a year-end celebration for student donors will be key components of the program.

Special thanks to those who will be serving as Student Giving liaisons during the 2004-2005 academic year: Shawn Klawitter (Chemical Engineering), Ryan Fleming (Civil Engineering), and Carl Kaiser (Mechanical Engineering).
