Engineering Students Receive Spring 2004 Awards

Outstanding engineering students were recognized for their accomplishments at the 2004 Engineering Days Awards Ceremony April 16, 2004, at the Lory Student Center. Students were presented awards from the College of Engineering, each of the four engineering departments and for projects shown at E-Days. The ceremony was sponsored by the College of Engineering, Engineering College Council and ASCSU.

Silver Medalist Andrew Amend
Colorado Engineering Council's J.C. Moore presented senior civil engineering student Andrew Amend with the Silver Medal Award. Five students state-wide are selected to receive the award each year.

All-College Awards:

Silver Medal Award Recipient: Andrew Amend, civil engineering senior

Amend is a member of Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society, served as ASCE student chapter treasurer in 2003, participated in bull riding with the CSU Rodeo in the spring of 2002 and completed a study abroad experience at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Budapest, Hungary, in the fall of 2002. He worked as an inspector with the Federal Highway Administration in 2001 and served as a transportation intern at G.C. Wallace Companies, a Las Vegas based consultant firm, in 2002 and 2003. Following graduation he plans to work at G.C. Wallace as a entry-level engineer in roadway design.

Dr. Wade Troxell and ME junior Nick Stites
Dr. Wade Troxell, mechanical engineering professor, named Nick Stites Outstanding ME Junior. Stites is an active member of ASME, ASCSU and has the highest GPA in his class.

These students are all active is ASME professional society and have the highest GPA in their respective class.

Undergraduate Research and Creativity Showcase

Two electrical and computer engineering seniors received awards for projects they presented at the Undergraduate Research and Creativity Showcase on April 21, 2004: Brendan Reagan (highest honors) and Mike Purvis (college honors). Both students were advised by Electrical and Computer Engineering professor Jorge Rocca.
