New Faculty in Spring 2003

In January Randy Bartels will join the faculty of electrical and computer engineering. Bartels earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2002 and has been working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Bartels' credentials include 17 refereed technical publications. His research focus is on ultra-fast x-ray generation and high speed lasers.

Rudolf Stanglmaier will join the Department of Mechanical Engineering this January. Stanglmaier earned his bachelor of science in engineering science from Trinity University and received an M.S.E. in engineering mechanics and an M.S.E. and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas-Austin. In 1997 he joined the Department of Engine Research at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio. His research interests focus on reducing emission of harmful pollutants and improving the fuel efficiency of internal combustion engines.
