Scott Scholars Candidate Receptions

Join us at one of our candidate receptions to mingle with current Scott Scholars, alumni, and other candidates, and learn more about the scholarship and program, how to apply, and tips to help you stand out in the application process.

The candidate receptions are offered on January 15th in Denver, January 17th in Fort Collins, and January 21st virtually.

Scott Scholars Shadow Day​

Candidates wanting a more immersive visit may consider attending the Scott Scholars Shadow Day offered on January 24th in Fort Collins. Shadow Day provides the same mingling and information as the candidate receptions, plus the opportunity to attend classes, activities, and lunch at a CSU dining hall with a current Scott Scholar. After the event concludes, a variety of optional tours will be available for those interested.

Space is limited for our in-person events, so we recommend you register early.

  • Please note: Due to the National Western Stock Show, the only way to access the Spur campus is by driving in from the south on 46th / 47th Avenue and coming north on National Western Drive South. There will be attendants at the main shed just south of the railroad track. Please tell the attendant you are there for an event at CSU Spur and they will allow access. No access will be allowed onto the campus coming from the north along Franklin Street or over the 51st Street Bridge.
  • View specific driving and parking instructions here. You will park in the lot labeled “CSU Spur parking” on the map.
  • Attire: we welcome you to wear what you are comfortable in. Our reception is casual – think “networking with classmates” rather than “job interview.”

  • Free parking will be provided via a digital parking pass. Be sure to provide accurate license plate details when registering. You may view or update your registration details (including your license plate information) by following the link in your registration confirmation email.
  • We recommend parking in lot 425 or 310.

  • Students will attend classes, activities, and lunch with a current Scott Scholar. Due to classroom and lab capacities, guests will not be able to accompany students to classes, activities, or lunch. There will be a brief presentation for guests after students leave for classes. 
  • Attire: you’ll be walking across campus to get to various classes, etc. so we suggest you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a jacket (the weather in January can be unpredictable).
  • What to bring: while you will be attending classes, you shouldn’t need to bring any school supplies. Bring yourself and any questions you have about the scholarship and program.
  • A variety of optional tours will be available after the event concludes, more information will be provided during the program welcome.
