Community requirements

Students participating and paying to join the community are expected to attend one workshop and one community event per semester.
Residence living in the community sites must select either an engineering or engineering exploratory studies major as a roommate when completing the housing application.
Students living in Academic Village – Engineering Hall and Edwards Hall – EC Third Floor will be expected to check in with their hall EC Staff-in Residence once a semester. This involves either attending a hall dinner as a group with your staff member, getting coffee with them, or meeting with them for 10-15 minutes to check in about classes and campus life.

Who Can Participate

The Engineering Community is primarily intended to serve first-year Engineering majors with limited space available for Exploratory Studies students who are strongly interested in pursuing Engineering as their major.

EC programming fee

Please note that housing prices vary between residence halls and an additional EC programming fee ($200 per semester) will be assessed to students who apply, are admitted, and are assigned to Academic Village – Engineering Hall or Edwards Hall – EC Third Floor. This fee covers the cost of hardware and software within the Engineering Design Labs and Academic Village classrooms, costs associated with the in-house AV Student IT Help Desk, support for engineering community programming and events.
