Supporting the success of undergraduates in engineering
The PROGRESS for Engineers program aims to support the success of undergraduates in engineering to pursue education and career opportunities, college-level study, and support them into a rewarding career.
This research-based program employs scientifically proven strategies such as mentoring, networking, and pathway and career discussions.

Program Development
Given the success of the NSF-supported PROGRESS program within the geosciences community, Dr. Melissa Burt scaled the program to engineering at CSU. The PROGRESS for Engineers workshop and mentoring program in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering began in 2020.
In addition, secured a three-year commitment of funds from HP, Inc to offer the program to first and 2nd year students in the College of Engineering. This investment not only includes workshop, mentoring, and networking opportunities but will also provide four-$1000 scholarships to students who participate in PROGRESS for Engineers.

Program kickoff
The program kickoff is a one-day workshop, covering topics on:
- Grand challenges in Engineering
- Career Pathways
- How to Ask for Support and mentorship
- Developing your toolkit for success.
Programmatic Activities
- Students who participate in the workshop are paired with mentors either professional engineers (nationwide), graduate students, or faculty
- Networking events in Fall/Spring
- Finals Week Brain Break events
