Internships
Internships are one of the most common ways to gain engineering experience. CSU uses Handshake to connect students with our industry partners and opportunities nationwide.
Co-ops
A Co-op is an extended work experience where students work in industry.
Study Abroad
Engineering students at CSU have many opportunities to participate in international experiences, whether that’s short-term or a semester.
Research
There are many Engineering labs at CSU. The SURE program helps match undergrads with research opportunities.
Personal Projects
Employers often share that they like to see personal projects on students’ resumes. $3,000 was given to 6 students to complete projects this summer.
Job Shadow
Have a connection in an industry you’re curious about? Spending some time with engineers in industry can be impactful for career decision making.
Coursework
Many of our undergraduate engineering courses task students with real world engineering problems. These valuable experiences are perfect to share on a resume.

Cooperative Education Program
Our cooperative education program allows participants to further explore their chosen engineering discipline, build a powerful resume, develop a network of professional contacts, and help support their academic expenses through real-world experiences.
What is a Co-op?
A Co-op is an extended work experience where students take time away from coursework to work full-time in industry.
If the experience meets departmental requirements, the student can gain 1 technical elective credit per semester worked. If you hope to complete a Co-op for credit, be sure to meet with your academic advisor.
