The following refer to the book Introduction to Chemical Engineering: Tools for Today and Tomorrow (5th Edition).

  1. Reading Question number 3 from Chapter 10 on page 185

  2. Homework Problem 10 from Chapter 10 on page 187, but perform the calculations using MATLAB and making the increment in water temperature \(\SI{0.1}{\degree C}\). Check your MATLAB results by hand at an outlet temperature of \(\SI{20}{\degree C}\) for both the counterflow and co-current flow designs.

  3. Consider the manufacture of aspirin case study beginning on page 220. Find the rate at which cooling water must be supplied to the chemical reactor jacket to keep the reactor at constant temperature.
