PC Purchasing Delays

Dear Engineering colleagues,

 
Our campus HP representative has alerted us to delays of up to eight weeks on new computer orders.  She noted that some models may take even longer.  If you are looking to spend down fiscal year funds, please be aware of this and get your orders in early with ETS.  
 
If your group or lab is looking at bulk orders of five or more computers, we are being advised to check with CDW before ordering to see what the status is.  So please remember that ETS is here to help  you with these purchases and in determining the best route to take should the machine you want be on a long-term backorder.
 
These delays are being driven by a combination of Intel shortages and China’s issues with the Coronavirus. On top of that, China just finished up with the Lunar New Year holiday.  Perfect storm you might say.
