RF atmospheric plasma for biomedical application
Abstract: Various types of atmospheric plasma for biomedical applications such as tissue removal, tooth whitening, and epidermis removal are presented. The preliminary results and experimental concept for further understandings will be shown. Non-contact device for tissue removal was achieved using CSU plasma torch. The removal rate was increased by adding chemical. Plasma enhanced electrosurgery was designed and improved by different chemical additive. The results of removing tissue by those plasmas were compared with conventional electrosurgery. Tooth whitening at low temperature (< 40 degC) and non-toxic condition was achieved by gas-liquid plasma. The stain on the tooth was removed in 8 minutes. Epidermis removal by low temperature slot plasma is shown as well. In conclusion, plasma chemical reaction can be optimized for specific applications.
