Dr. Glen Hansen

Program Director, Adams State University/ Colorado State University Mechanical Engineering Program

Associate Teaching Professor

Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Glen Hansen joined CSU and the Mechanical Engineering Department in Summer of 2023. He previously taught Thermodynamics, Mechanics of Materials, PreCalculus Mathematics, and Fluid Mechanics at Casper College. He was a manager, group leader, software engineer and led various technical programs at Sandia, Los Alamos, and Idaho National Laboratories during the course of his technical career.

Glen is currently working on developing GPU-accelerated radiation transport algorithms and applications as well as various software products for engineering design optimization for nuclear reactor systems.

His recent work includes developing Lagrangian solution methods and software for high strain rate mechanics and shock multiphysics applications. The principal focus of this work was the development of a reconnection-based tetrahedral element method that would reduce the need to use Eulerian and ALE approaches for high strain rate scenarios.

He has also recently contributed to the development of multiphysics engineering analysis codes, specifically the Albany and LCM codes at Sandia National Laboratories:
