About the MECH Exec Board

Established in Fall 2018, the MECH Exec Board is all about creating meaningful connections and fostering a strong sense of community among mechanical engineering undergraduates. Whether you’re new to the program or a seasoned student, this team is here to make your journey more collaborative, inclusive, and fun!

What We Do: Events, Advocacy, and Engagement
We host open-invite events designed to bring students together—whether that’s connecting with peers, meeting mechanical engineering faculty, or building relationships with staff. These events are your chance to network, share ideas, and be part of something bigger than just classes and exams.

Our Values: Inclusivity, Collaboration, and Growth
Guided by CSU’s Principles of Community, the MECH Exec Board is committed to creating a welcoming environment where every student feels valued. We believe in building an inclusive learning space where diverse voices and perspectives are celebrated. Whether you’re brainstorming ideas, working on projects, or just looking for a supportive environment, we’ve got you covered.

Why Join Us? Advocacy and Leadership Opportunities
As advocates for a positive and dynamic work environment, we collaborate with other engineering student organizations to spark initiatives that make the department better for everyone. We give students opportunities to share their voices, connect with department leaders, and make real change.

Want to Get Involved?
The MECH Exec Board is your chance to leave your mark on the mechanical engineering community. Join us at our events, share your ideas, and be part of a team that’s shaping the future of mechanical engineering at CSU. Come for the connections, stay for the impact!

2025-2026 Mech Exec Board

Mission

Foster a positive and dynamic community, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, where our students feel supported and connected, and where an inclusive environment is supported. Promote opportunities where MECH students can gain an enhanced knowledge and experience of the MECH profession, in part through service.  Liaise between the MECH student body and department leadership to help facilitate other student organizations’ events that support the college’s goals of community, retention, recruitment and diversity, as well as the University’s Principles of Community: Inclusion, Integrity, Respect, Service and Social Justice.

CSU's Principles of Community

The Principles of Community support the Colorado State University mission and vision of access, research, teaching, service and engagement. A collaborative and vibrant community is a foundation for learning, critical inquiry, and discovery. Therefore, each member of the CSU community has a responsibility to uphold these principles when engaging with one another and acting on behalf of the University..

Events

Mech Meet and Greet

Partnering with our mechanical engineering advisors, our board welcomes our new students at our MECH Meet & Greet with donuts! During this event, students are encouraged to meet with their advisors and ask any questions they may have had about classes or CSU in general.

Tailgates

Focused on building community and connections, the MECH Executive Board hosted a departmental tailgate for CSU’s first football game. The event brought students together to socialize with board members, mechanical engineering staff, and faculty, offering a chance to connect with peers, mentors, and professors in a relaxed setting. It provided a safe and fun celebration before heading to the game.

Town Hall

A very important event the board puts on every semester is a Town Hall with the Mechanical Engineering Department Head. Our Department Head takes the time to listen carefully and respond to concerns. This allows our students’ voices to be heard and considered for beneficial change to be implemented in the department.
