Civil engineering Ph.D. student Aleah Hahn has been awarded a Colorado Water Fellowship from the CSU Colorado Water Center. Her research focuses on the movement of water through and around log jams to improve floodplain connectivity and ecosystem services.
“This fellowship will allow me to connect with other interdisciplinary, water-focused individuals and professionals,” said Hahn. “I am excited to share my research with others and to develop collaborations among different colleges at CSU, and to get a better understanding of water law in the Mountain West.”
Originally from Michigan, Hahn completed her Master’s degree in Corvallis, Oregon and feels at home in the woods or near a river. She chose CSU for her doctoral studies thanks to an applied river research group led by Associate Professor Ryan Morrison.
“I am particularly excited about our approach to research in viewing rivers as a coupled human-riverscape for environmental health, as well as human health and safety,” said Hahn.
Hahn’s love of water goes beyond academics.
“Outside of school, I am on the Larimer County Dive and Rescue Team that serves all bodies of water in Larimer County.”
