Carter and Smith receive career awards at spring college meeting
At the spring all-college meeting, two CEE faculty received career awards for their contributions to research, scholarship, and teaching.
Associate Professor Ellison Carter received the Nelson Mid-Career Faculty Award (2025-2028). Carter was chosen “for being an exceptional member of CSU’s faculty who is actively engaged in research, scholarship, teaching, and service at the highest levels in her field. She is certainly deserving of the recognition associated with being selected as a Peggy and Jim Nelson Mid-Career Faculty Award.”
Assistant Professor Ryan Smith received the George T. Abell Outstanding Early-Career Faculty Award. Smith was selected “for innovative research assimilating large remote-sensing datasets with machine learning models for predicting land subsidence and groundwater storage, excellence in teaching, and promotion of the principles of community and inclusive excellence in his research, advising, mentorship, and service.”
