Ian Lohrisch
Hello! My name is Ian Lohrisch. I am a fourth year in the Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering program and am a parallel co-op with Caterpillar Inc. as of May 2022 where I work in the engine research and alternative fuels group. I hope to have an internship in the R&D of prosthetics next summer where I will broaden my knowledge of the biomedical industry. When I’m not working at CAT, completing my coursework, or fulfilling my obligations to BMES, you can usually find me outside rock climbing, skiing, or hanging out with friends.

Carter Giles
Hi! My name is Carter Giles, and I’m a fourth year Biomedical and Mechanical Engineer. I was born and raised in Colorado which has led me to be the outdoors person I am today. I enjoy camping, mountain biking, dirt biking, skiing and anything else outside. I’m also a gear head, which is why I became an engineer, so I like getting my hands dirty working on my car or bikes. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone!
Treasurer
Jacqueline Oswald
Hello everyone! My name is Jacqueline Oswald, and I will be the treasurer for BMES this 2023-24 school year! I am a third-year student here at CSU studying Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering. What originally sparked my interest in engineering was building various types of Lego sets (cliché I know) when I was younger. Outside of classes, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to different coffee shops, working out, and playing IM sports! I am so excited for this school year and cannot wait to meet everyone!
Communications Director
Mya Lewis
Hi! I am Mya Lewis and am serving as Communications Officer. I am a second-year student at CSU dual majoring in BME and ME. These majors drew my attention because growing up I enjoyed working on hands-on projects and wanted to relate that to helping our bodies. In my free time, I enjoy playing volleyball, hanging out with friends, and watching TV shows, specifically, I just started Game of Thrones! I look forward to starting the new year and hope to meet you all!
Industry Director
Eric Gutierrez-Camacho
My name is Eric Gutierrez-Camacho, and this academic year, I have the privilege of being your BMES Industry Director! I'm currently in my fourth year out of five here at CSU, studying Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering (please reach out with questions about the dual-degree program). Growing up in the Western Slope of Colorado, I've always had an appreciation for our surrounding nature. Hiking to lakes and waterfalls has always been fun. Now in Fort Collins, in my free-time, I enjoy playing my electric guitar and singing. I also recently adopted Mya, my pit/lab mix puppy who's been keeping me busy on top of an internship. This semester, my goal is to push as many biomedical companies through CSU to give our members ample opportunities to engage with employers and become interns at renown companies. I look forward to seeing our success this fall!
Outreach Director
Raylee Senn
Hi! My name is Raylee Senn, and I am the 2023-2024 BMES Outreach Director. I will be in my third year at CSU, and I am dual majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Since I was a kid, I have always loved to build things and find creative solutions. I always enjoy helping others out as well. Some fun things I like to do in my free time are reading books, hanging out with friends, and going on hikes! I am excited for another successful year of Outreach events. I hope it will be a fun experience for all!
ECC Representative
Anisha Kalla
Hi! My name is Anisha Kalla and I am the ECC Representative for BMES this year. This will be my second-year double majoring in mechanical and biomedical engineering here at CSU. I was always interested in building things at a young age and wanted to help my community as time went on. This degree option was the perfect way to combine these interests. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, watching documentaries, and drawing. I am excited and am looking forward to a great year with everyone!
Below is a summary of the main duties of each officer position. Formal duties are listed in the CSU BMES Constitution.
- Schedules and oversees all general and officer meetings
- Manages and leads all planned events
- Regularly meets with faculty and academic advisors
- Represents the face of the organization
- Delegates unassigned tasks
- Must be in the Biomedical Engineering Degree Program at CSU
- Must have served in at lest one other officer position previously
- Acts in the absence of the President
- Meets regularly with the President to plan meetings
- Communicates with the National BMES organization
- Coordinates t-shirt design and ordering processes
- Takes notes during officer meetings for later reference
- Oversees and handles all financial issues (bank account, dues, reimbursements, etc.)
- Develops budget at the beginning of the semester
- Manages funds from fundraising events
- Creates annual Treasury Report for the Chapter Development Report
- Aids in a proposal for funding to the ECC every semester
- Maintains social media accounts
- Takes pictures and videos during meetings
- Sends emails to members and the BME undergrad
- Creates fliers and other advertising for meetings
- Coordinates events with industry speakers
- Creates the sponsorship packet and handles donations to the organization
- Maintains great relationships with alumni and previous guest speakers
- Communicates with graduate student membership
- Leads long-term outreach projects such as the Outreach Program
- Oversees fundraising events
- Represents BMES during Engineering College Council meetings
- Reports activities and decisions made by ECC during officer meetings
- Submits funding proposals every semester
