James Tillotson

Teaching Instructor
Mechanical Engineering

James is interested in engineering as it applies to energy, human health, and aerospace. He finds joy in connecting the technical aspects of engineering to the human experience, pairing good design with those who will benefit from and use the design. He takes his passion and sense of enthusiastic curiosity with him to every new challenge.

James studied cookstoves for the developing world for his Masters. He has worked for CSU since 2011, beginning as a student intern during his time as an undergraduate ME student, GRA, GTA, full-time research engineer, and now as a laboratory support engineer.

James grew up on a small ranch in Nunn Colorado. His greatest accomplishment is his marriage with Cadie – James says he got the good end of the deal for sure. He is the father of two daughters who are full of delight and have, more than anyone, taught him to see the world through eyes of wonder. It is a privilege to raise them, and he is excited to see what will bring them joy in the future.
