Postdoctoral Fellow

Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Juan Felipe Rodríguez Rueda is a passionate mechanical engineer specializing in internal combustion engines for vehicles, vessels, and power generation applications. With a background spanning bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. studies, Dr. Rodríguez has hands-on experience in lab testing, emissions testing, on-road and stationary vehicle testing, fuel development, and cutting-edge engine development for ultra-high-efficiency natural gas heavy-duty vehicles. A proud graduate of CSU, Dr. Rodríguez received the Fulbright “PALC” scholarship from Fulbright Colombia and the Colombian Government.

In his research at CSU, Dr. Rodríguez focuses on reducing critical emissions from industrial and heavy-duty internal combustion engines (Methane, NOx, and non-regulated), alongside the development of strategies and technologies to enhance efficiency.

His midterm goal involves exploring nonconventional energy sources for internal combustion applications, integrating fundamental combustion characterization, experimental and CFD-assisted studies, and applying research findings to commercially applicable products.
