Mechanical Engineering
Dr. Blanchard is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University (CSU). Prior to this appointment, he was a Ph.D. student at CentraleSupélec, Université Paris-Saclay. During his Ph.D., he worked at the EM2C laboratory on the stabilization of lean flames with nanosecond discharges to reduce NOx emissions.
His current research at CSU with Prof. A.P. Yalin and Prof. C. Dumitrache focuses the development of novel ignition techniques for renewable fuels (e.g., H2, NH3¸ e-fuels, biofuels) to leverage the emergence of combustion technologies to curb CO2 emissions and reduce pollutant emissions. He develops and implements advanced optical diagnostics to better understand the physics of laser-induced plasmas and their impact on flames. Using similar diagnostics, he is also studying low-density plasmas used for electric propulsion in space applications to overcome the limitations of current technologies.
