What is MECH 202?

MECH 202: Engineering Design II is a sophomore-level mechanical engineering course at Colorado State University. During this course, students complete a semester-long project teaching them teamwork, ideation, decision-making, and project-planning skills. 

Each semester, MECH 202 hosts a competition open and free to the public showcasing students’ hard work and ingenuity. Join us and experience the MECH 202 competition this semester!

Spring 2024 - RoboRam Cup

In a single-elimination, tournament-style competition, students and their “robo-cars” will faced off in two-minute, two-on-two soccer games.

Congratulations to team Bats and Laughs who took home the RoboRam Cup trophy! 

Fall 2023 - Nautical Knockdown

The Fall 2023 MECH 202 course culminated with the class competition Doll’d Up Nautical Knockdown: Where Fashion Meets Splashin’ featuring battle boats, dolls, and a swimming pool in the atrium of the Scott building. Read more here

Over the course of the fall semester, more than 20 teams of mechanical engineering students conceptualized, designed, and constructed boats capable of 1) comfortably seating two competition-regulated dolls and 2) sinking or gaining control of their opponent’s vessel.
