Dr. Li’s research focuses on fire behavior modeling, air quality modeling, and machine learning. As an air quality modeler, he applies numerical and machine learning approaches to address challenges in air quality, with a particular emphasis on wildland fire smoke.

Research Interests

  • AI-driven smoke forecasting systems for real-time and predictive air quality applications.
  • Development and coupling of fire-behavior and chemical transport models.
  • Assessment of wildland fire smoke impacts on air quality and human health.
  • Development and refinement of emission inventories for the biomass burning source.
