Engineering has two 44″ plotters:
- magellan_plotter_44
- HP DesignJet T795ps, located in the Magellan Design Studio. Connect on Windows using the path \\labprinters\magellan_plotter_44
- scott_plotter_44
- HP DesignJet T790ps, located in the Atlas Design Studio at the Scott Bioengineering Building, room 201. Connect on Windows using the path \\labprinters\scott_plotter_44
General Notes
- If the image is turned 90 degrees on the canvas in the print preview, you have to switch the height and width values to correct the problem. All other settings should stay the same.
- If you experience problems with any of the programs listed below, consider converting your file to a universal format like a PDF document or JPEG image file to plot. See our instructions to convert a file to JPEG.
Plotting with Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Choose File > Properties. In the Description tab, note the Page Size.
- Choose File > Print. In the printer name drop-down box, select the name of the plotter (see above).
- Select Properties.
- Choose the Paper/Quality tab, then select Custom in the Paper Options box.
- Input the desired Width and Height. Then, in the Name field, rename the default from “Custom” to “Print”. Press Save, then OK.
NOTE: If your image will be 44″ or less, set the Width value as the longer edge of your image. Otherwise, set the Height as the longer dimension. - Set the print quality as desired.
- Select the Features tab. Select “% of actual size” and set to 100%.
- Check Autorotate and press OK.
- Select Custom Scale, and ensure that it is set to 100%.
- View the preview to confirm the look of your poster.
- Press Print.
Plotting with Adobe Reader
- Choose Image > Image Size, and change the image size as desired (in inches).
- Choose File > Print. In the printer name drop down box, select the name of the plotter (see above).
- Select Properties.
- Choose the Paper/Quality tab, then select Custom.
- Input the desired Width and Height. Then, in the Name field, rename the default from “Custom” to “Print”. Press Save, then OK.
NOTE: If your image will be 44″ or less, set the Width value as the longer edge of your image. Otherwise, set the Height as the longer dimension. - Select the Features tab. Select “% of actual size” and set to 100%.
- To ensure that scale reduction does not occur, check “Scale to fit media”. (If the scale drops below 100%, the width and/or height need to be increased. See step 5 for instructions.) Before printing, uncheck “Scale to fit media” and ensure that scale is set to 100%.
- Check Autorotate and press OK.
- Press Print.
