Abstract
An Overview of the Hydrologic Engineering Center’s Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS)
The Hydrologic Engineering Center’s Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS) is designed to simulate the precipitation-runoff processes of dendritic watershed systems. HEC-HMS is used around the world for event-based (hours to days) and continuous (months to years) modeling for a variety of applications, including urban drainage, water availability, flow forecasting, reservoir spillway design, flood damage reduction, floodplain regulation, and systems operation.
In this seminar, I will provide an overview of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Hydrologic Engineering Center. I will present applications of HEC-HMS, technology transfer material, and upcoming software enhancements.
