Sarah Millonig

Associate Director, Operations, Communications & Partnership Development
One Water Solutions Institute

Sarah is an Associate Director for the One Water Solutions Institute at Colorado State University. For over 17 years, she has assisted with the management, implementation, and coordination of several national research centers and CSU programs. Millonig is responsible for business development, program management and project administration for the team. She leads communication, education, and outreach efforts involving both industry and government stakeholders as well as the general public.

Millonig is the lead contact for the team’s CSU Spur – Hydro activities including partnership development, programming and project administration, communications, and tours. In addition, she manages the team’s events, conferences, and workshops. Sarah is co-located at both CSU’s Department of Civil & Engineering (Fort Collins) and CSU Spur (Denver) campuses. Millonig has a background in anthropology and environmental education. She worked as an archaeologist, park ranger, and wilderness guide before joining the CSU community in 2007.

Research Interests

Sarah’s research interests include water reuse technology adoption and implementation of One Water strategies. She has been engaged in several flagship projects in collaboration between CSU-OWSI and the Water Research Foundation, including the development of a Self-Assessment Framework for One Water Cities (WRF #4969).

Millonig is also actively engaged in a variety of strategic initiatives at the CSU Spur Campus, including activities in the Water Technology Acceleration Platform (“Water TAP”) as well as engagement and partnership development to expand existing resources that support informed planning and decision-making in integrated water systems and beyond.
