Daniel White

Assistant Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering

Danny White is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University, joining the faculty in August 2024. His research spans themes including ecohydraulics, sediment transport, fish passage engineering, and geomorphology. White’s interest in river processes was sparked by a lifelong connection to river environments, where he made observations that fueled his desire to improve river infrastructure design and management best practices. To that end, White and the students he works with employ a variety of methods to research physical river processes including field studies, laboratory flume experiments, and computational modelling simulations.

White earned his B.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Utah in 2017. He then pursued his graduate studies at Colorado State University, obtaining an M.S. in 2019 and Ph.D. in 2023. Prior to joining the faculty at CSU, White was a postdoctoral fellow with the Center for Ecohydraulics Research at the University of Idaho.
