Andrea Hanson Rhoades
Research Scientist II, Center for Contaminant Hydrology
Andrea’s research interests center on elucidating microbial interactions with environmental contaminants and harnessing microbes’ physiological capacity to enhance bioremediation. Her research employs microbiology, molecular biology, multi-omics approaches, and environmental chemistry to characterize microbial communities and contaminant environments in engineered and natural systems to inform remedial design, implementation, and monitoring. Andrea’s current research efforts are focused on developing solutions for nitroaromatic compounds, oil and natural gas produced water, perchlorate, and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
