Susheela Mallipudi was recognized for her Outstanding Contribution to graduate advising by the Graduate School in April 2025. 

“I view my role as a guide and advocate for students,” said Mallipudi. “Our field tackles some of the most pressing challenges of our time—from climate change and infrastructure resilience to water quality and sustainable development. That kind of work requires not just technical skill but creativity, persistence, and a strong sense of purpose. I believe in being available, honest, and encouraging, while also pushing students to take ownership of their work and their path. Graduate school can be tough, and I want students to know they’re not in it alone.”

Mallipudi has served as the Graduate Advisor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering since 2017.

“I honestly feel lucky to be in a position where I get to work with such bright, motivated, and inspiring graduate students. Seeing their growth and achievements is the real reward, but I really appreciate this recognition. It means a lot!”
