Graduate Advisor Susheela Mallipudi was the October 2025 recipient of the Staff Award from the Dean’s Staff Advisory Council in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering!

The college newsletter, RAMbler, featured Mallipudi in the following Q&A:

You love to cook world cuisine and travel. What’s your favorite food to cook?

Mexican and Central & South American food are a favorite of mine. I’m lucky that I have a partner and teen who enjoy eating my various dishes, even when the results don’t look like the picture. My family loves arepas stuffed with chicken and avocado, savory empanadas in a flaky pastry, and a comforting bowl of albondigas.

How have your masters degrees in aerospace and higher education helped shape your role in the college?

My master’s in higher education shaped me into a student-centered professional, while my aerospace engineering degree strengthened my analytical and problem-solving skills. Together, they let me think strategically, contribute to big-picture planning, and bridge technical insight with student affairs to better support our students, faculty, and programs.

What’s your favorite thing about working with graduate students?

My favorite thing about working with civil and environmental engineering graduate students is seeing their growth and creativity. They bring curiosity, fresh ideas, and energy to their research and careers, and it’s incredibly rewarding to support them as they develop professionally. I love hearing about their successes—publishing papers, presenting at conferences, or landing new positions.
