ERC Machine Shop: More than 50 years of engineering solutions
The CSU Foothills Campus is home to the Engineering Research Center (ERC) Machine Shop. The shop has supported research through affordable and expert manufacturing and engineering solutions for more than 50 years.
With a newly revamped website, the shop is reintroducing its cutting-edge services to researchers across the university.
“Working across departments and colleges, we are able to assist faculty and researchers with a variety of manufacturing services from original concepts or designs to modifications on existing equipment,” said Matthew Szydlowski, ERC Shop Manager. “We provide a full service shop that can take an idea or concept and work through design and manufacturing.”
Szydlowski and his team offer custom fabrications, prototype development, and expert machining. They provide support to faculty research like the Gross Dam hydraulic model and the Hall effect thruster. They also support undergraduate and graduate research and design projects, such as the ASCE steel bridge and the Ram Racing Formula SAE team.
