60″ Plotter

Engineering has one 60″ plotter:

  • magellan_plotter_60
    • HP DesignJet Z6800ps located in the Magellan Design Studio. Connect on Windows using the path \\labprinters\magellan_plotter_60

General Notes

  • If the image is turned 90 degrees on the canvas in the print preview, you have to switch the height and width values to correct the problem. All other settings should stay the same.
  • If you experience problems with any of the programs listed below, consider converting your file to a universal format like a PDF document or JPEG image file to plot. See our instructions to convert a file to JPEG.

Plotting with Adobe Acrobat Pro

  1. Choose File > Properties. In the Description tab, note the Page Size.
  2. Choose File > Print. In the printer name drop-down box, select the name of the plotter (see above).
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Choose the Paper/Quality tab, then select Custom.
  5. Input the desired Width and Height. Then, in the Name field, rename the default from “Custom” to “Print”. Press Save, then OK.
    NOTE: If your image will be 60″ or less, set the Width value as the longer edge of your image. Otherwise, set the Height as the longer dimension.
  6. Under Print Quality, slide the slider all the way to the right.
  7. Select the Layout/Output tab. Select “% of actual size” and set to 100%.
  8. Under Rotation, select Autorotate from the drop down menu and press OK.
  9. Select OK.
  10. View the preview to confirm the look of your poster.
  11. Double-check that \\labprinters\magellan_plotter_60 is in the Printer box.
  12. Press Print.

Plotting with Adobe Reader

  1. Choose Image > Image Size, and change the image size as desired (in inches).
  2. Choose File > Print. In the printer name drop down box, select the name of the plotter (see above).
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Choose the Paper/Quality tab, then select Custom.
  5. Input the desired Width and Height. Then, in the Name field, rename the default from “Custom” to “Print”. Press Save, then OK.
