Saeed Azad, Ph.D.

Welcome to my website!

I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Daniel Herber's group. With the goal of developing efficient and effective solution strategies for the optimal physical design and control of modern dynamic systems, my research employs an integrated, system-level framework that is known as control co-design or CCD.

To address the needs of today's engineering systems, CCD requires additional considerations beyond the scope of its traditional activities. Therefore, my research integrates uncertainty modeling and quantification, advanced control techniques, data-driven models, and artificial-intelligence with CCD framework to come up with novel and creative solutions, generally not accessible through conventional techniques. Through this, my research aims for an integrated design vision in which not only plant and control decisions, but also other dominant properties of the system of interest, such as layout, topology, shape, etc. are included in the design process from the early stages.
