PTS is an organization that helps ME students prepare for their careers and provides opportunities to get involved and stand out. A common source of anxiety for all levels of students is that they have yet to find a career path they are passionate about, and are unsure of their future. This series introduces students to faculty and career professionals outside of the classroom to gain insight on the many fields they can apply their degree to. By bringing in these specialized and focused individuals, students can determine if the speaker’s field of study is one the students wish to pursue. If so, the students can use the speakers as resource to learn about internship/research opportunities, what classes they should take, and possibly even tour their facilities.
Industrial, lab, and office tours show students what kind of facilities they could work in with their degree. Companies such as Wolf Robotics, Luzbot, HP, Otterbox, Woodward, and more have shown students what everyday life as an engineer looks like. Tours are announced as they are organized and spots are reserved on a first come basis.
Pi Tau Sigma hopes to give insight and provide skills to students exploring the different disciplines within engineering. Workshops discussing technical and analytical skills, advising students on their educational path, and providing networking or professional development opportunities are our focus.
