Accelerated Master's Program (AMP)

Maximize Your Education

Planning to pursue a graduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering? Save time by enrolling in our Accelerated Master’s Program (AMP) and begin taking graduate courses while completing your bachelor’s degree at CSU!

What is AMP?

The Accelerated B.S./M.S. program, or AMP, allows you to earn graduate credits while completing upper division bachelor’s degree requirements.

Students with strong scholarly and/or research interests may apply for admission to a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree program to begin the following fall or spring semester after they graduate with their bachelor’s degree.

Students who are accepted into this program are allowed to apply nine credits of 500-level coursework, with grades of B or better, toward both their undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Are you eligible for AMP?

To be considered for AMP, all students must:

  • Be enrolled in bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, physics, or mechanical engineering
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better

Note: Even if you do not qualify for the accelerated program, you may still qualify to enter a graduate program after you complete your undergraduate degree!

Applying to AMP

Apply early in senior year

To learn more, meet with the ECE graduate student advisor preferably during your junior year, but no later than the first semester of your senior year. The timing of your application will impact when you will be able to begin the program, so schedule your meeting to discuss the program early!

  • Choose “First Time Users”
  • On the Program page, choose Integrated Degree Program Plus (AMP).

You will provide:

  • Resume
  • Statement of purpose, which should include: educational goals; summary of long-term professional and personal goals; statement indicating how participating in the combined degree program will contribute to your long-term goals
  • Contact information for the three people you have asked to write letters of recommendation

Note: You will not need to provide official transcripts since they are already on record.

Admissions Process

  • Applications that pass departmental review are forwarded to the Graduate School for final evaluation. Students who are admitted to the AMP program are notified by the Graduate School via email.
  • If accepted, AMP students should schedule a meeting with the ECE graduate student advisor before or during the first week of the semester for required paperwork.
  • Students pursuing the MS Plan A degree (thesis) should have a commitment from an ECE faculty member to serve as their graduate advisor.
