End-of-Semester Congratulations!

Message from ECE Department Head Edwin Chong (Dec. 2022)

Congratulations for wrapping up the fall semester! As the new head of the ECE department, I applaud our students’ hard work and perseverance. I know it wasn’t easy. I am also grateful for our excellent faculty and staff.

My philosophy is to serve and advocate for our department. I am receptive to input and invite you to share your ideas, feedback, and concerns with me anytime

As we continue to overcome the impacts of the pandemic, we enjoyed many successes this semester. Here are just a few of the many highlights:

  • Our very own Shavauntay Dukes was named a CSU Outstanding Graduate
  • We hosted world-leading scientists and engineers to amplify research on lasers
  • Two ECE professors were named fellows of an international AI organization
  • We began planning for the $177 million NASA Earth Venture mission
  • Prof. Nikdast received the Rockwell-Anderson professorship
  • We inducted our newest class of leaders into IEEE-HKN
  • Prof. Notaros was recognized by IEEE society for publishing best paper of the year
  • We welcomed the return of our in-person ECE seminar series

Take care of yourself over winter break. Rest, recharge, and have fun. I am looking forward to spending time with family and playing my fretless bass in my band.

We can’t wait to welcome our students back in January!

Sincerely,
Professor Edwin Chong
