CSU eID & Your Primary Email

Most people assume that the primary email address means that any email messages sent to your eID email will be forwarded to the primary email address you entered. As it turns out the primary email address is used to set your First.Last@colostate.edu (First.Last@rams.colostate.edu for undergraduate students) alias. What does this mean?

First off, only email messages sent to your First.Last@colostate.edu or First.Last@rams.colostate.edu will be forwarded to the primary email address you set on the eID web form. Any messages sent to your eID@colostate.edu or eID@lamar.colostate.edu will not be forwarded to your primary email address.

If you want all email messages sent to your eID to be forwarded to your primary email address you will need to create a ".forward" file manually on your eID account. Read instructions for forwarding email.

We recommend that you set your primary email address to your Engineering email address (or Google Apps Rams email address) for the reasons shown in the table below. Edit your primary email address for your eID.
