Application deadline Extended: Monday, March 20, 2023, 5 PM Mountain time
Find an opportunity: Browse the posted opportunities for SuMR fellowships. When you find an opportunity you are interested in, contact the principal investigator of the host lab to begin formulating a research plan that can be conducted over the summer, with the resources and expertise available in the host lab.
Propose a project: Your application will contain a three-page proposal describing:
(1) your background and research interests;
(2) the proposed work you intend to perform in the host lab;
(3) how the proposed research is aligned with your current educational plans;
(4) your future educational goals including possible interest in a PhD at Colorado State; and
(5) your interest and experience working with diverse groups.
Consider sharing drafts of your proposal with your adviser and others to get their input and to improve your proposal.
Gather your transcripts: The application requires that you upload transcripts from all institutions you have attended. Your transcripts must include the classes you are currently taking. Unofficial transcripts (in pdf form) will be accepted during the application process. However, students selected for the fellowship will need to provide official transcripts before they will be officially accepted into the program. Please do not include high school transcripts.
Identify references: The application requires two letters of recommendation (including one from your adviser in your current master’s program). Their names, affiliations, position titles, and email addresses are required in the application. Before applying, discuss this opportunity with your references so that they can write a supportive letter that candidly describes your strengths, qualities, experiences and attributes that make you an excellent candidate.
