AIChE is a student-run chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers at Colorado State University. We provide opportunities to connect CSU chemical and biological engineering students with industry careers and professionals, undergraduate research opportunities, and fellow students.

If you’re looking for a way to get involved in the CBE community, AIChE and ChemE Car are your best options for that – whether you want to learn more about what you can do in the field, want to get hands-on experience in chemical engineering, or just want a way to be more involved, come join us!

As a chapter, we hold biweekly meetings and organize events including local site tours, brewery tours, community outreach events, and more.

ChemE Car

ChemE Car is a sister group of AIChE, in which the team designs a car that runs on a chemical reaction. We are expected to be able to modify the reaction that powers the car and/or the stopping mechanism after we learn the distance it will be expected to traverse, which is given on competition day. The competition takes place at the regional AIChE conference each spring, and the top teams are invited to attend and compete at the national AIChE conference in the fall.

Our members are undergraduate students from multiple majors, including but not limited to mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and of course, chemical engineering. In the past, we have powered the car using a hydrogen fuel cell. If you’re interested in joining the team or have other questions, contact Grace Blaskowski. We’re always looking to grow the team!

The Rocky Mountain Regional ChemE Car Competition will be held at the University of Wyoming in Spring 2023!
