Workforce Development and Student Research Opportunities
Students in Chemical and Biological Engineering make an immediate impact in the workforce. They have regular opportunities to engage with industry partners who support students, ranging from sponsoring senior design projects, providing professional advice, guest lecturing, guiding research and providing financial support.
Companies sponsoring senior design projects have the opportunity to shape students’ research in support of their initiatives.
- Investigating the feasibility of using algae as the primary life support system for a Martian base
- Using autonomous water-based drones to continuously detect toxic algae in lakes, rivers, and other inland water bodies
- Developing an improved process for large-scale carbon capture and optimizing carbon removal to address climate change
- Creating a novel material for packing in wastewater filtration devices for the collection of SARS CoV-2 viral particles.
