Hello everyone,
Here is the update on the fund request meeting which ECC held last Monday. We have a total of $5500 to give to non-department organization. I contacted the people in charge of the money and final word is that ONLY non-department organization can receive this money. With that said here is what the two qualifying organizations received.
If you have any further questions or you are not pleased with this outcome please come and voice your opinion at our next general meeting (Monday October 8, 6:00PM, Room B101). We are your voice as the student body and if there is a great enough concern let us know.
Otherwise the representatives of the organizations that received funding can attend our next general meeting (Monday October 8) if they have any further questions and I will keep them updated on where their money is at.
Regards,
Mohamed Eldeiry, President
Today we had our college-wide student funding meeting. Totals granted:
This semester's expenditure of $3000 leaves another $2500 for next semester's funding request meeting. Don't worry - there will be plenty of notice beforehand, at minimum by college-wide email 1-2 weeks prior to the informational meeting - usually the week before the actual funding meeding itself. These notifications are sent through Sharon Bradshaw (as she has access to the college-wide email list), so be sure to pay attention to the email you get from her.
AIChE (chemical engineering) has received uncertain approval due to Dr. Siller's indication that department-specific student orgs might not be eligible for the college-wide funds that ECC is tasked with distributing. This is a new development - we were not restricted in this way last year. More information as we get it. If you're wondering about this specific issue, email Mohamed and he can address it at our next meeting.
Three other department-specific student orgs - FSAE, EES, and IEEE - are in a similar situation to that of AIChE. They were not granted funding at this point because their requests are for events occurring next semester. These will be re-considered at next semester's funding request meeting.
On a different note: I'm going to start posting PDF scans of our meeting agendas (after the respective meetings) with my own handwritten notes included. These ought to provide some (perhaps limited) insight into specific goings-on at each meeting. Feel free to email me with questions.

ASCSU has asked Engineering for volunteers for Student Fee Review Board. You do not need to be a senator or otherwise active ASCSU member to be on this. SFRB is the committee that determines how to spend student fee revenue (which I believe totals $31 million at the moment). I downloaded the application form from ASCSU's website and converted it to PDF for your convenience. You'll find more specific information in the application document itself.

Hope everyone had a refreshing summer. Here's what we've got on our plate for the moment:
Also - Engineering has three more spots open for ASCSU associate senators. This is a great way for anyone interested to get started in student government here at CSU. The associate senator position is fairly low-impact while still giving you substantial opportunity to try out any of the varied facets of ASCSU. If you're interested, or would like more details, feel free to email me: noncomp AT engr DOT colostate DOT edu.
